Safety
The upgraded Chevy Colorado has features to keep you safe by helping you avoid accidents. The safety features available for the Chevrolet truck include forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking (AEB), front pedestrian braking, lane keeping assist (LKA) with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, and Intellibeam® auto high beam assist.
The forward collision alert is a fancy term for a system that monitors your distance from other vehicles or objects ahead of you. If you're getting too close, it will sound like an audible alert. The AEB works by using a combination of cameras and lasers to detect objects in front of the truck, such as cars, obstacles, and pedestrians; if the vehicle is about to crash into one of these objects and it's moving fast enough, the AEB will automatically apply the brakes to help prevent or at least mitigate the damage from a collision.
The lane departure warning feature can be handy for those who frequently drive on unfamiliar roads around Mt. Pleasant or work long stretches of a highway. It can help prevent accidents caused by falling asleep at the wheel or missing exits due to not paying attention.
